Meet the Medical Directors
Leonard J. Cerullo, M.D. Co-Medical Director
Leonard J. Cerullo, M.D., and John A. Hefferon, M.D., are co-medical directors of the Neurologic & Orthopedic Hospital of Chicago. Dr. Cerullo specializes in neurosurgery with emphasis on noninvasive and minimally invasive diagnosis and treatment of brain tumors and spine disorders.
Dr. Cerullo is chairman emeritus of the Department of Neurosurgery at Rush University Medical Center; a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons; as well as past president of the American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery, Laser Association of Neurological Surgeons International, and the Midwest Bio-Laser Institute.
Dr. Cerullo earned the doctor of medicine degree at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. He did his residency at Northwestern University Medical School. He is certified by the American Board of Neurosurgery.

John A. Hefferon, M.D. Co-Medical Director
John A. Hefferon, M.D., specializes in arthroscopy and sports medicine, as well as knee and shoulder replacement surgery.
A leading Chicago orthopedic surgeon, Hefferon is the league physician for the National Basketball Association and the Women's National Basketball Association. He also was team physician for the Chicago Bulls from 1984 to1996 as well as for the 1996 U.S. Olympic Team.
Dr. Hefferon earned the bachelor of arts degrees at Brown University and the doctor of medicine degree at Northwestern University Medical School. He did his residency at SUNY-Buffalo Consortium Hospital. He is certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery.
