J. Thomas Brown, MD

A board-certified neurosurgeon with over 25 years of experience, Dr. Brown cares for patients with a wide-range of neurological disorders. He has special interest and expertise in the surgical and non-surgical treatment of patients with back and neck problems including disc disorders and other degenerative diseases of the spine. Guided by a strong conservative care philosophy, Dr. Brown recommends invasive surgery only when non-surgical and minimally invasive alternatives have been unsuccessful or ruled inappropriate.

Dr. Brown received his medical degree from Northwestern University Medical School, Chicago, Illinois in 1970. He then embarked on a residency in neurological surgery at Northwestern coupled with an 18-month neuroanatomy research fellowship at Harvard University Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts. After completing his residency and research fellowship in 1978, Dr. Brown continued his specialty training with a clinical neurosurgical fellowship at Hôpital Foch in Suresnes, France.

Dr. Brown holds memberships in several professional organizations, including the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, Congress of Neurological Surgeons, Neurosurgical Society of America, and the American College of Surgeons.
