Dr. Hurley

Daniel Hurley, MD

Daniel J. Hurley, M.D. is a founding member of the CINN Institute for Spine Care. A board-certified physician with over 15 years of experience, Dr. Hurley is an authority on the non-surgical treatment of many neurological and neuromuscular conditions, including head, neck, and back pain; repetitive stress disorders; and nerve, joint and soft tissue injuries. Dr. Hurley, who helped establish CINN's highly respected Work Injury Program, is an expert in the evaluation and treatment of occupational injuries.

As a specialist in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Dr. Hurley attempts to integrate the most effective therapeutic techniques, from high-tech surgical care to gentle therapeutic energy techniques such as acupuncture, to obtain the optimum outcome for each patient. He performs the latest diagnostic and therapeutic spine injections and minimally invasive procedures. He also has been very effective in treating cervicogenic disorders causing difficult headache syndromes.

Dr. Hurley began his medical education at the undergraduate level receiving a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Harvard College. Earning his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in 1983, he was also the recipient of the Outstanding Candidate Award for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Upon graduation, Dr. Hurley held a yearlong internship in Internal Medicine at Evanston Hospital, Evanston, Illinois, which is affiliated with Northwestern University Medical School. In 1984, he continued his education at Northwestern by pursuing his residency training at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago. When Dr. Hurley completed his residency in 1987, he pursued additional subspecialty training in pediatric orthopedics and rehabilitation with Massachusetts General Hospital and other hospitals in the Boston area.

In 1988, Dr. Hurley returned to the Chicago area where he was appointed medical director of outpatient physical medicine and rehabilitation services at the Bolingbrook Medical Center for Hinsdale Hospital. Two years later, he was chosen to direct occupational medical services as well as adult and pediatric rehabilitation services at St. James Hospital in Chicago Heights. In 1992, Dr. Hurley added to his responsibilities the role of medical director, Occupational Medicine Division, Centers for Health Excellence in Schererville, Indiana. Dr. Hurley brought this wealth of medical leadership and patient care experience to CINN when he joined NOHC in 1995.
