Expanded Neurovascular Services Available at NOHC
Welcome to the website for the Neurovascular and Stroke Prevention Program. We hope that the information presented on this website will provide you valuable information in better understanding the uniqueness of our team and the services we offer.
The Neurovascular and Stroke Prevention Program offers innovative approaches to the treatment of cerebrovascular disorders either by navigating the body's blood vessels with a catheter; through open surgical techniques; with the use of stereotactic radiosurgery, or a combination thereof. Since the physicians at NOHC have significant expertise in both surgical and endovascular procedures, patients seeking care at NOHC can be assured they will receive the most appropriate treatment given their specific facts and circumstances.
The Neurovascular and Stroke Prevention Program specializes in the treatment of patients suffering from vascular diseases such as, aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations (AVM), carotid cavernous fistula, carotid stenosis, cerebrovascular ischemia (stroke), and vasospasm. The Program brings together the expertise of two highly trained and experienced physicians, representing one of the most the most experienced teams in the country treating and preventing stroke. Building on the strength of the physician team, the Program employs exciting new technology, including:
- New stents designed specifically for the brain
- Coils that are coated with biologically active material designed to create scar and connective tissue within the aneurysm to enhance the healing process
- Carotid stenting with distal protection devices
- Hydrocoils that allow increased packing of cerebral aneurysms
- Clot retrieval devices for the management of acute strokes
- Software that allows for the visualization and quantification of blood flow in the head and neck completely non-invasively
The Neurovascular and Stroke Prevention Program participates in many clinical research studies and is always at the leading-edge of new procedures and treatments. If you would like more information on this program, please call 800/ 446-1234.
