The Multidisciplinary Stroke/Vascular Team

The multidisciplinary team consists of an endovascular neuroradiologist, neurosurgeons, neurologists, nursing and neurological rehabilitation. The

Endovascular surgical neuroradiologist—Physicians specializing in neuroendovascular procedures

Neurosurgeons—Physicians specialized in the surgical treatment of brain tumors and other diseases of the nervous system.

Neuropsychologist—A clinical psychologist specialized in helping neuro patients and their families manage the emotional aspects of their medical problems and surgery.

Physician Assistant (PA)—A health care professional who practices medicine under the supervision of a physician. A PA may obtain medical histories, perform physical examinations, order and interpret diagnostic studies, implement patient management plans, and assist the physician in surgery.

Advanced Practice Nurse (APN)—A Registered Nurse who has received a master's degree and is qualified to practice nursing in a specialty role. He or she may be a Clinical Nurse Specialist or a Nurse Practitioner. An APN uses advanced knowledge and skills to assist in managing and coordinating patient care. They may also provide further education to patients or other health team members.

Registered Nurse (RN)—A specially trained and licensed nurse responsible for planning, managing and coordinating patient care. RN assures that patient's physical needs are met; bandages, IV's, hygiene, medications

Nursing Assistant—A nursing assistant is specially trained to assist nurses with their tasks. They may assist by taking vital signs and tending to some of the patients physical needs; bath, meals...

Occupational Therapist—A specially trained and licensed therapist that evaluates and treats the difficulties caused by a physical illness in performing daily tasks, such as the ability to work, care for self and family, and participate in leisure activities.

Physical Therapist—A specially trained and licensed therapist that evaluates and treats the physical limitations caused by a physical illness and works with patients to improve and optimize strength and motor skill.

Speech Therapist—A specially trained and licensed therapist that evaluates and treats any difficulties a patient may have with speech, language, thinking, voice and swallowing.

Social Worker—A specially trained and licensed professional that helps identify and facilitate patient post-discharge issues and needs.
